Council For Medical Schemes Reviews

My nursing career journey

My current company is the regulatory body for the medical schemes. The main function of my job is to measure the quality outcomes that the managed care organisation produce while applying clinical guidelines developed from evidence medicine based My day is to analyze application for new applications and renewals for accreditation of managed care. Liaise with entities and stake holders. I have a good working relationship with colleagues, I am a team player. What I have learnt most is the auditing function to ensure that the entities adhere to the medical scheme act. What I enjoy most is the onsite evaluation when we do onsite visits to the organisations. The most challenging aspect is when I have to debate in a clinical forum to make an opinion- because of our different experiences and qualifications.

Pros: Career growth and personal development
Cons: Travelling a lot

Improved legal grafting, massive learning curve, exposed to the different side of law.

My job is rating at normal 8 hours of work per day, with different challenges faced, learning, improvement and it shapes character and personal ethics, in one day a lot can happen. We work as a team to complete individual tasks, consultations, discussions of different cases, different views and opinions. A lot of ideas are shared and they equip me for tasks of the day. This job taught me patience, business clientele, matured behavior and professionalism in handling matters. I have acquired so much, learned the Medical rules, basic procedures, the Act and resolution strategies. When I started working here, this was all new. Today i can perform tasks individually and confidently so. Some days you get complex cases that take away all my attention, I would spend half my day trying to find a solution and at the end of the day close the case. My thinking capacity has expanded, drafting skills, reasoning and decision making. I believe i can take on anything new and bring the best out of it.

Pros: Great opportunity, it enhance my career
Cons: Backlog and high volumes of new matters
