Communicate Recruitment Reviews

Life as an internal recruiter

A typical day at work involves a few hours of sourcing and telephonically screening candidates. Conducting multiple interviews with candidates. I have a good relationship with my co workers, we often talk, motivate each other and are helpful to one another. I have learnt a lot from my current role, I didn't know what recruitment was until I started at my company. What I Enjoy most is interviewing candidates, each candidate is different and has different life stories, hearing all of those has helped me understand people better. The most challenging aspect of my job is finding recruitment consultants and convincing them to come back to an agency.

Pros: Growth, confidence levels have peaked, being able to explain things in better detail. Making a difference in people's lives.
Cons: Candidates not pitching for interviews, having great candidates but managers not feeling like they are a fit.

A day as a recruiter

Get to work and check all ad responses. Cold call during prime hours between 9-12 for new business. After lunch, source for candidates, book interviews an , writer ads. I enjoy sourcing the most as I have a great eye for good talent. Since starting in the recruitment field, I made my first placement 3 days after starting and since have made at least 2 placements a month. I really enjoy the trill and excitement of not knowing what could happen in the next few hours. You might not have any business when you get to work but by 12 you may have 4 specs you could work and make money, it's exciting.

Pros: Fast paced, great earning potential
Cons: Long hours, slow business

Working conditions

Company believes in micro management. All calls are tracked and they have unreasonable stay targets. Not a fun environment. Working conditions is not healthy. No flexibility at all. Most staff work long hours but when an individual needs to leave earlier for some reason or needs to leave an hour earlier, leave must be taken even though the individual works overtime all the time. Fellow colleagues are really nice.

Pros: Great people/colleagues
Cons: Micro management and not a nice working environment

Senior Recruitment Consultant

Our company is a well established listed entity. Its very pressurized and we have daily weekly and monthly targets to achieve. As a team the consultants work very closely and we have a great bond. I have learned a totally new way of marketing candidates and sourcing new business. i will miss the team and the relationships i have build within the organization. The most challenging part is to actually go out and visit my clients as i don't have a very supportive manager.

Pros: Great training
Cons: Management
