Care and Grow

I was a Team Leader at a Contact Centre with a staff of approximately 50 in my own team. I was involved in listening to calls, and of course also covering targets met/timekeeping/discipline etc as well, and I listen to recorded calls, according to our agreed criteria, and then give feedback to the staff afterwards. My relationship with my subordinates are based on a care and grow principle whereby I make sure that they have all the means necessary in order to do their work more efficiently I have also learnt out of this experience that if you do care about your staff and make their work area a better workplace, that targets will look after itself. Every individual is unique, and being able to get them all organisational goal orientated is always a challenge, but that is also what I mostly love about my job.

Pros: Better understanding of relations between staff
Cons: Uniqueness off individuals make it a challenge

Team work is the order of the day.

Although the money is not satisfying due to the slow cash flow in the company, we are putting our strengths together to bring about change. Money is the factor but we rather not think about it but assisting learners who are our customers at the end of the day.

Pros: Team effort
Cons: Long working hours

I am a good learner, very fast learner

My typical work day is busy. I have a very good relationship with my co-workers. I have learned a lot about finance department, reading of statement, pastel, . What I enjoyed most is when I interact with students, solving queries, and see that student is happy at the end of the day. I enjoyed collecting, collection runs through my blood, I have been collecting for too long now, I really enjoyed to collect.

Pros: There is no promotion where I am
Cons: I am working till 5 PM , and 2 Saturdays a month

Good place to start out

I have built my department with great people! Management is friendly and approachable. Staff are hard working. Most of the people here are great and easy to get along with.

Pros: Good place to start
Cons: Not often salary increases

...

A typical day at work is to provide the necessary support to our students, academically and with their student accounts. We follow up on outstanding documents and resolve incoming queries. Administrator incoming and outgoing calls. I have a great relationship with my colleagues, they make my day worthwhile at work. I've learnt that if you are kind to people, they will respond to you kindly. I enjoy turning an unhappy student into a happy student. I also enjoy encouraging people who are feeling despondent. My job is not challenging anymore.

Pros: I received a full bursary to study Human Resources Management Practice
Cons: No room for growth
