Working at a retailer other than Spar

I work at Checkmart as store manager. My duties include managing the day to day activities of the store; overseeing staff and staff issues; employing staff; managing stock take, budgets etc. I enjoy a good relationship with my co-workers. We maintain a professional yet friendly relationship at all times. There is constant learning in the retail environment and more than anything else, at Checkmart I have been exposed to a very different retails market. Having come from the Spar environment, the target market was quite different to the new target market I have been exposed to. It has taught me about the buying power of different people, their needs and how to meet those needs. The most challenging part of this job is adjusting to a new system of working that is very different from the Spar systems as well as the systems I worked with at Checkers.

Pros: I get to work in retail and do a job that I love.
Cons: The downside is that being a non-Muslim I am not easily accepted in a Muslim environment. I have no stability in the sense that as much as I have a contract, the fear remains that I can be replaced at any time with a Muslim. I find the attitude of some customers toward me is quite de-motivating.

Excellent learning curve

I've really learnt a lot seeing I had no experience what's so ever I enjoyed and love the work that I do I get along with everyone the people there are so original I'm great ful to be given the opportunity to work with in that company

Excellent learning curve

I started working at checkmart as a cashiers on 2019 but I only worked 1 month as a cashiers I was promoted to work as an office admin clerk and invoicing clerk plus buyers assistant clerk I’ve learn a lot at checkmart as I came in as a cashier. And I’m greatful really about all the new things I learn every day
