Catherine Booth Hospital Reviews

I learnt a lot to equip myself as a Professional Nurse at Catherine Booth

Working at Catherine Booth Hospital has been a learning curve, its a hospital in a rural area.I had to adjust to many things since it was my first experience of a rural lifestyle.Work started @ 7am to 6pm,most of the time;one would work with 3 people while nursing 40 terminally ill patients or in OPD where you assess about 150 patients per day.Shortage of staff was a big challenge. It has, however, taught me to b a team player, to be accountable, have empathy,be responsible, be flexible and produce the best results at all times.

Pros: Great setting for professional growth
Cons: Shortage of staff

Great learning opportunity

Working in a hospital with a smaller number of beds may sound or seem boring but it all depends on what you make of it. There isn't any crazy pressure on staff but being a small hospital means that staff numbers are low hence you may have to go further than your job description. Staff are friendly and welcoming at most times but this is dependent on one's own attitude. Closer colleagues are a pleasure to work with as everyone is always eager to assist whenever necessary. I have learnt how to run an entire department alone. This in turn has taught me great organizational and leadership skills. The challenge commonly faced is lack of resources.

Pros: Good learning experience
Cons: Sometimes very quiet
