Caprisa Reviews

My life at the workplace

The organization is pretty nice, filled with exciting projects that involve healthcare research. However there is a shadow hanging over people who aren't health care specialists. EG:IT department. As a software developer I developed and maintained systems that provide special needs for in house procedures that involved data analysis and manipulation. I worked with scheduling and booking systems that were for the organization and it's branches around KZN. I really learnt a lot from my Mentor who is a senior developer, from the different ways of coding in C#, SQL, to the problem solving under pressure.I expanded my knowledge of practical systems analysis and design and contributed to user training and user manual documentation creation. I enjoyed the atmosphere in the workplace and the flexibility of being able to continue with my studies during breaks.

Pros: Flexible break hours
Cons: Long working hours, very low level of recognition.

Stepping stone to growth

I start my day with a cup a coffee and read through all my emails and revert to messages. I then go through my diary which I keep and record all to-do in delivery target sequence. I work quickly, proficiently and always make sure that I pay great attention to detail to minimize correction time should it be required. Services delivery is a high for me and to keep my financial books clean at all times. I am very close with all my co-workers and we all work together in assisting one another daily. It is a very friendly environment with a smile and laughs now and again. I've learnt to work well as an individual with no supervision and also work brilliantly within a team. There is nothing I enjoy most than keeping my Creditors happy and on time service delivery. I take pride in my work and work hard and efficiently daily. I am always open to learning and trying to find better ways of making my job more efficient and easier to perform. Looking forward to meeting you soon.

Pros: I am a very fast learner, hence climbing up the ladder is generally quicker.
Cons: very long working hours which requires time away from my family

Excellent learning curve

From where I was working in the Human Resources Department, I have learnt and experienced the fast pace nature it really is. The department handles immediate employee concerns and all matters that either affects them indirect and direct. For instance compliance needed from them through legal requirements. What I enjoyed the most is that the organisational culture which made me feel part of the organisational hence boosted my sense of belonging. The most challenging accepts of the job was the amount of pressure on a day to day proceedings but helped me learn how to prioritise my work.

Pros: Great opportunity for gaining experience
Cons: Less chances for promotion

Excellent learning environment

The usual day is always busy with daily tasks including meetings and various training that come up now and again. The staff are very supportive to each other and they appreciated my willingness to help wherever I can. the most challenging aspects at my job is to come up with new ideas or new studies to sustain the company but I have enjoyed the opportunity i have received in being trained to be a researcher.

Pros: great organization if you are studying further in postgraduate studies
Cons: Contracts are based on funding the company receives therefore jobs are not secure enough

Excellent learning curve

It has been a great experience working for CAPRISA, it was never easy coming from a clinical background to hardcore research. Research pushes you to be observant, critical, pay attention to detail. I enjoy challenge and my job was challenging but now that the study is running its more of a routine same thing every day and less challenging. I have a very good relationship with my co-worker and my boss I just wish he would give recognition of the hard work and effort that the team put in.

Pros: Performance bonus
Cons: No perfomance bonus if no fundings
