Capital Software Reviews

Great learning curve

At my current employer, it has been a great learning curve. I have learnt a lot about the life insurance policy industry. I have among others worked on programs that create batch files for banks to do deductions from clients accounts. I have also learnt to code in VB.net - reports are written in it. I have a great working relationship with co-workers - it's kept professional and help where I can when help is needed. I enjoy a challenge; when requests for improvements or bug fixes come in from clients, I see a new lesson learned with each new problem encountered. A typical day is attending to customer queries and doing investigations about how customers can get their problems sorted, whether it be a bug fix or enhancement to the software. At the moment, the most challenging part about the job is the fact that I work remotely, and all the clients that are serviced are in the UK.

Pros: I work flexi-time and manage my time/work accordingly.
Cons: Because I work on my own time, I sometimes get carried away with work and work long hours.
