Good african continent exposure, very fast paced

I started at Capital after 6 month retrenchment sabbatical. I was was impressed with the environment. I would prefer not to work in open plan offices . I am very driven. However I am good at putting office politics to bed. I am diplomatic but direct and expect to run clean books - by the book! At this point everyone knows where to draw the line and acceptance is well and done. We have team building and celebrating important events like Africa day. This punctuates the fast paced hectic environment. I started off doing Mgt accounts for 2 countries and a month later the work load of a boarded off colleague Two months later a colleague resigned and I was given his work load with no sal inc I took over very messy books but I managed to clean house.We encounter language barriers form our in-country staff and little control in war torn countries such as Sudan. We are allowed to come in as late as 8.30 because traffic is crazy. management are flexible when we need time off

Pros: I work very well and I know my job - cant ever be denied. The boss appreciates that. You are allowed to apply your own procedures to streamline processes
Cons: Too much extra hours - salary does not match the job content. Open plan office. The only employ CA's in higher positions. No growth potential. Company financial results is dire

I have extensive knowledge with good communication skills...organization skills

Being in charge of staff,we have a lots of demanding situations with staffing issues uniform etc.. recruitment dealing with clients etc. Vwry good to work with, work well with my other colleagues

Great Learning Experience

It has taught me how to perform under immense pressure while putting Safety and quality first. The company always asses employees based on performance and response to pressure situations. Company always encourages interpersonal relationships among employees as the safety of all employees is connected or intertwined, we all depend on each other for safety and quality.

Pros: Great learning curve
Cons: High pressure and very long hours at times

It is a learning environment

Work with all kinds of people but we get along quite well.with have a culture that guides us makes us to have good communication and working as a team.

It is the worst company I ever worked in,

It is not enjoyable to work at this company,the are no bonuses and they can make deductions on your pay that can be 75percent without consulting the employees. What I can say is I can't wait to get another job

Excellent Africa, Forex & Interco exposure

Very fast paced. Great team spirit. Language barriers with in-country staff but they are very responsive. Lots of cleaning up to do - but its what I love.

Has opened my mind to different possibilities given the time and chance

There's a lot of pressure to perform at your best all the time. I have a great working relationship with my colleagues and at times they look towards me for ideas and guidance. I've learnt a great variety of skill, like the use of different power tools, hand tools, cutting torch and rigging gear such as lever blocks, chain blocks and proper methods of tying the rope. The most challenging aspect is lifting heavy pipes to the position where it will be fitted with very little space to install rigging gear and ensuring that the virtual on the pipes is accurate for welding.

Pros: There's no more room for growth and very little opportunity for further education
Cons: Long and stressful working hours with a lot of pressure to please the client at all times
