Cape Mental Health Reviews

Learning curve

My day starts with a 15 minute session of exercise then daily orientation a pink lesson followed by either gardening lesson, arts and crafts, work skills and later we have a music lesson and to end the day we have leisure time and lastly some quiet time before everyone leaves I'm to prepare lessons in advance for adults with intellectual disabilities teaching them basic skills and principles of knowledge to equip them for the open labor market and to ensure that they are skilled and successful with what they have been taught in Lifeskills. My goal is to see each individual learn at least one tiny skill even if it is to tie a shoelace

Pros: I get to impart knowledge to someone who is mentally challenged and help them understand and process the information that I give
Cons: No real opportunity for promotion

Excellent learning curve and good working hours

Working at cape mental health has been a very important part of my career. Learning about disabilities has been very expiring. We work 40 hours a week and are off on weekends which allow me to spend more time with family on weekends. Work environment is pleasant and the staff is very cooperative and supportive. What can become challenging is working overtime and not being compensated for doing so.

Pros: Great working hours
Cons: Minimum wage salaries
