I had the opportunity to gain experience in a totally differant field from what i am qualified to do

being an Operation's manager in a TES(temporary employment Service)in the Petrochemical Environment is very stressful. The clients are very demanding and most of my clients are Blue Collar Clients e.g. ENGEN, TOTAL

Pros: This has given me experience in a differant field to add to my petrochemical and manufaturing career
Cons: There is not enough time in 1 day.

Great team to be working with but need more

A very close knit family/colleagues who enjoying working together. A typical day usually starts with you planning your day ahead and then it never plans out as there is always something that needs to be taken care of urgently as flexibility is key within the environment we currently working in. I personally think I have a good relationship with my colleagues as they do feel comfortable coming to me when assistance is needed and vice versa. I have basically learnt how to be patient and to be able to think on your feet as well as when it is okay to delegate and most importantly to have the trust from my managers to know that they can rely on me to be proactive and take charge.I have bee challenged with taking up new ventures not sure whether I would enjoy or not and yet I have somehow made it work for me

Pros: Eagerness to learn and busy enough to want to know everything within a industry
Cons: Very long working hours and non recognition

A Company in state of change

Initially, the job was very rewarding due to the high level of trust and the encouragement of entrepreneurial spirit. I was encouraged to use my expertise and initiative to further grow the business and improve margin. As the area manager, I had 4 businesses reporting to me, the Vaal Triangle, Nelspruit, Bloemfontein and Secunda. My portfolio was centered around technical recruitment and management of teams of artisans as well as a heavy focus on mining. I was also entrusted with a number of national accounts. I was responsible for costing model generation, quoting and implementation of service delivery models as well as day to day operations of the business. What I enjoyed most was building successful teams and turning around struggling branches. The most challenging aspect of the job was juggling the high level of corporate involvement against the expected delivery targets.

Pros: fairly free environment to operate
Cons: No promotional opportunities. massive contradiction between management's expectations

My expectise at workplace

I like to work in a most challenging environment. I have a good relationship with my co-workers and believe in teamwork spirit . I have learnt to become flexible at workplace and have a desire to participate at various sections of the company as I have cherished the belief that , that will benefit the mind and soul to learn and achieve great things both personally and for the success of the company. I don't mind to work under pressure and for extended hours . I am always interested in new adventures. I always like to ensure that the daily operations meet and exceed the daily performance expectations.

I am currently employed as a safety advisor by Capacity on contract basis.

Safety inspections on daily basis, I advise and coach employees on safety compliance, I have learned to write safety reports and incident investigating, I like training and coaching employees on safety and the challenges of my job are: Sub standard human behavior and some negative attitude towards safety.

Pros: Yes there are opportunity for promotion
Cons: I have worked long hours especially on shutdowns

Operations administrator

I am currently unemployed was with Capacity on a contract basis received end of contract and trying to find employment within the same field. I did weekly and monthly payroll. Daily head count. General administration and also had exposure to IR. I was responsible for a staff of 100 plus had to recruit to maintain headcount for the different sites I was placed at also see that they had the protective clothing. I dealt with transport so the employee's got home safely also assist staff with any queries.

Cons: No support from management

I learn how to work with people

To be an assistant supervisor helped me a lot because I was dealing with different people from different backgrounds and be able to help if there's need, I was also doing admin work ,going extra mile helped me a lot and the client was very happy about my work,sometimes there were challenges but we were able to face them as a team in order to make the client happy .

Pros: I was looking forward to be promoted
Cons: We did work long hours at some times and able to convince our employees to push
