All in one department

Because the company is small the HR department is also not a big team. Because of that we get to do everything to do within Human Resources. From my two year three months in the company I have broaden my knowledge is a very amazing way. Beside training and Organisation development which was my specialty when I Joined Broadband. I now have vast experience in Recruitment, Policy development, Performance management, Labour relations matter to name a few. A normal work day at Broadband Infraco goes something like this: •Arrival to the office I read email to pick any urgent stakeholder request •Follow up on old submission for e.g. Approvals of Policy, recruitment recommendations & training request •Work on training request, Performance contracts quality checks, Update HR systems to ensure accurate reports from the system •Policy reviews and Job profiles updates •Log purchase requests for either, adverts, training, consultations etc. •Compiling of Training reports and training budget updates

Pros: Quality experience in all aspects of Human resource
Cons: Very long working hours because the HR team is very small

Fibre Maintenance Technician

Conduct monthly routines on switching equipment and Optic fibre cable, checking for breaks, high loss joints and keeping records or Performance & Monitoring equipment and linking them to the National Network Operation Centre. I splice Optic Fibre Cables during the planning phase of new routes, cut-overs, fibre brakes and to do feasibility investigation of the links. Perform special investigations on network failures and re-curing faults especial optic fibre breaks doing fault finding, repairs and maintenance (Splicing). Basic understanding on transmission equipment (SDH, DWDM) Testing alarms, batteries during maintenance schedule and also installing batteries.

Pros: no promotion

Experienced field personnel in telecom systems of transmission, fiber, ip and facilities

Good day, I am currently employed as a field service specialist where I am responsible for kzn network including dwdm, sdh, fibre, cisco routers and facilities installations and maintenance. I work with a team of 4 colleagues. I support them daily on the task by leading them, arrange resources, interpreting complex scope of work and technical support during network challenges at site. I am self starter and driven by positive outcome in all tasks. I have a vast experience on computer skills, transmission and cisco configurations. I also a sound knowledge and experience on hardware installations. Yours faithfully S Zulu

It is a great opportunity for learning new experiences in for ever changing world of technology

Is to go to sites and doing preventative maintenance, Responding to emails and scheduling planned work to rectifier previous defects, relationship with co-workers is professional but also relaxed, I have learnt how to do site surveys and also planning for new business opportunities . Enjoy the work well done after a long project. The most challenging aspects are driving to sites which are far away and driving back in total is 600 Kilometer of driving per day.
