I have a great ambition in working with chemicals.

A typical work day -able to work monday to friday My name is Thokozane Nkosi i have a great ambition in working with chemicals. One of my key point is to establish myself in a dynamic environment where my extensive profession in Chemical Engineering can be fully utilized. To be able to work in a challenging environment utilizing my education and skills at their best in order to achieve success and not only to gain experience but also to be an an asset in the company.

A hardworking, self-motivated, goal oriented, self-supervised team worker, having gained analytical, technical, and supervisory, as well as communication skills while serving as a Process Controller at Bright Refining. Able to work independently under minimal supervision, able to work under pressing circumstances and enjoys problem solving and seeing results. Pays precise attention to details, has the willingness to succeed and not intimidated to learn new things/to make decisions. Computer literate and works competently with Microsoft Office.

Good for Training or to kick start a career

Most challenging aspect of my job is Budget, I hardly have any to do any project, even if it earns the company might just save a couple of hundred thousands, that's because directors are not willing to listen and back the idea up. It's always their way, the world is changing and so should we I believe. BRF took me out of my comfort zone, got exposed to all departments, from processing to procurement, etc, basically I was exposed to all plant activities which was a smooth transition due to the good relationship i have with fellow colleagues. Amongst other things, what concerns me is the working environment, it is unsafe, we do not have proper systems in place and i fear one day is one day; someone will die as a result. To change that, we need to inject money to make those changes something the company isn't willing to do unfortunately. The pay scale is also very poor, I believe I am being underpaid, in fact scratch that, I KNOW I’m being underpaid and any request for a salary review falls on deaf ears

Pros: Great for growth as I have learnt quite a lot within a very short space of time and I'm exposed to a whole lot of fileds, not just Processing but Mechanical, Electrical, Procurement, e.t.c..
Cons: Work load isn't complimented by the salary package.

During my four year of working in this company I've gain many skill and I aslo discover my strength and weakness. I have gained communication skill, time management skill and ability to train other people.

Company and individaul Highlights

Bright Refining is a company that promotes innovation in order to boost production but also promotes safety. On a normal day, I would carry out my duties as per my job description and in between have learning sessions with the plant superintendent with regards to production, process engineering and metallurgy and this is what i enjoy the most. The most challenging part of the job is always ensuring that there are minimal to no delays each day.
