Boston Media House Reviews

Lecturing at Boston Media House

I lecture diploma and degree students at Boston Media House. The diploma students attend twice a week, as well as the degree students. When I get to class, I recap on the previous lecture and when there aren't any questions, I move on th the planned lecture for the day. My colleagues, admin staff and other lecturers, are very supportive, especially because I lecture a large number of students(the modules I lecture are not electives but are compulsory modules. When the term or semester is coming to an end, I mark all assessments and submit them to admin to have the marks captured and finalized

Pros: Great opportunity for growth, the challenges I have faced, such as big classes, have made me more confident as a lecturer
Cons: It can be tiring lecturing 500, the marking is even more of a challenge because I do that alone, there are no tutors

Easy going environment to work at. Fellow employees are friendly and easy to work with. Our boss is very understanding and easy and fun to work with. Easy hours and not far from home. You do not work weekends so you get to rest. Tea and lunch breaks

Pros: Meeting now people
Cons: Rude people and learning not to answer back

Teaches you adaptability and positive work culture.

There is positive employee engagement, there is respect and integrity amongst employers. I have learned to work under pressure and improve communication skills. I enjoyed the opportunities to be able to work in different departments.

Pros: Great opportunity to gain experience

Not much room for advancement

This is a good job for part time workers or those full timers who are not looking to remain in a position for long. The relationship with managers tends to be strained and there is high turnover in management.

Pros: Small classes to lecture, up to date course material, good work environment in Durban.
Cons: No autonomy with course content, poor relationships with managers outside of Durban, no room for advancement.

I am a short course lecturer

I choose the hours I work because I am short course lecturer and for that they are understandings. My relationships with co-workers is good, great actually because constant communication is key . I have learnt to take care of macs from a technical point as well as a software point. I I have learnt to troubleshoot a lot for problems at work. From equipment maintenance, booking for students and helping students out. I enjoy it when students get the bigger picture of what I am trying to teach . Most challenging aspects of it is working with students. .

Pros: Helping others
Cons: Not enough money

You get exposure regarding the the field that you’re studying, regarding workload and experience

The experience at Boston Media House is rather realistic in regards to the practicality of work load and is seen as insight for reviewing one’s perception of how the faculties being studied are being pursued within the industry. However, the workload is a lot when having to deal with having to perform the faculties required to support the major being pursued as well as the major in which the student wants to pursue.

Pros: Experience the faculty that one is majoring in
Cons: Long hours of assignments
