Excellent learning curve indeed

I am currently working for a construction company that funded my studies at the Tshwane University of Technology to study for a National Diploma in civil engineering, which I have completed. I have been permanently employed since July 2014, and I have to work for 7.5 years in total in order to fulfil my bursary contract agreement, which is ridiculous. Had I known better, I would have opted for other tuition fee options. It is therefore not by desire that I am working for the company, but because of the circumstance of having to fulfil the contractual agreement that was agreed upon or otherwise I would have to pay back the bursary’s tuition fees.

Pros: Great learning experience
Cons: Little room for growth; unfair bursary agreement

I am a dedicated individual who works very well in a team.

I arrive on site at 6:30 and begin with the safety toolbox talk with I chair with the safety officer. Then I have a meeting with my team which entails the foremans and and the supervisors. Then I go back to my office to update what was completed the day before and I check my emails and respond to them. I order all the materials that we need..

Pros: The company has alot of trainings that uplift your skills
Cons: We work every weekend

Terrible

Underutilized and undercut people who work for them. Salary reflects no where close to amount worked. Staff often overworked. No time to have a life. Expect the moon but no support from company to get you there. No perks basic salary only. Manager swear and are very rude.

Pros: Exposure to civil construction
Cons: Managers often racist

Making sure employees at work are safe in every possible way is something I find pleasure in and by the end of shift the joy of watching everyone go home in one piece cannot be compared, working with my current company has been a great learning curve and spending time with the employees has thought me almost everything from work etiquette to laying paving. Advancing in my current field of work would be a dream come through and I learn something new everyday. According to previous reviews from management my biggest challenge is planning which I am working on improving.

Pros: Learning opportunities available
Cons: Short term contracts
