Blain projects Reviews

Construction, project management and property development experience.

Being a director in an SME meant that one had to be fairly versatile and perform many roles. The typical day was busy with time being spent both at head office and on construction sites to attend meetings, check on progress, efficiencies and quality. Being a reasonably small company my relationship with co-workers, particular those in management and administrative positions was on a personal level. I was open to co-workers approaching me for advice or to discuss any problems they had or could foresee in the business. I have learnt what the challenges 26 years of managing your own company brings all of which is details on my CV. I enjoy new challenges and the satisfaction of the end result of constructing something of quality. The most challenging aspect of my job was operating in a very difficult construction business environment with fluctuations in turnover and profitability and the consequent labour relations challenges that accompany such volatility.

Pros: Satisfaction of creating something and creating employment
Cons: The risk in today's market far out-ways the reward.

Professionalism

Working with typical old man who have been in the construction industry for long time , who think they know everything including their safety that's a challenge. I created a very good relationship with my co-workers and I enjoy more when we are working together (understanding my role onto them , respecting my job and each other, doing the right thing). working from the beginning of the projects until completion date ( that is what I enjoy most , experience)

Pros: Experience
Cons: Challenges
