Day at work

The day starts with starting up the PC, opening up emails and checking for any urgent items to addressed before standup at 9:30. Then we grab some snacks and something to drink and start to work. We use Jira to grab tasks and go through the test case, or investigation, or writing of new test cases etc. I have learnt to do traces, SOAPUI, SQL queries, run reports, test matrix,test cases, user cases and various other tools that are helpful in software testing. I enjoy finding defects so that they can be fixed before going to QA. It's very challenging to get through all tests as we are sometimes pressed for time and system or connectivity downtime. Co-workers are very helpful and usually we become friends outside the work place.The day is filled with various SCRUM meetings and JAD sessions as well as defect calls.

Pros: Lots of stuff to learn and lots of training.
Cons: Some long hours and weekend work but this is compensated with a bonus.

Best company I have ever worked it

After being there for 5 years A typical day at bbd is like a walk in the park. The company is very family orientated A work with close friends as a team with one gaol I have learnt good work ethis from BBD , delivery is of the most importance at BBD The environment Keeping up with the company.... They are always introducing new technology to be learnt

Pros: I love everything about BBD
Cons: You need to keep up with the latest technology while mastering the old technology

Growth

the company is a Casual environment. In terms of dress code and structures or company hierarchy. They have great benefit and they take good care of their employees.

Testing

I am Thabisile Mafolo, before joining BBD as a Test Analyst, I started my testing career as a graduate at Rubric Consulting. I previously attended a 10 weeks IT training program in Pune, India. I was trained in ASP .Net programming using C#. Working at Standard Bank as a junior tester, I have gained skills and knowledge through working hard and learning daily.

Good culture

Good culture within the company. Introduces one to different opportunities and different projects. It's an opportunity to learn different industries from banking to telecommunications.

Excellent learning opportunity

I have been with my current company for just over 10 months, what I have learned about their culture is that it is a very fun and free spirited environment. Work load is a lot, but team work is very prioritized which makes it easier to work. Breakfast , snacks and drinking water is free, which I find it so cool. They also have have the cheapest lunch packages. I am still learning the system because it is huge and I’m excited to be involved in a life changing projects as I work on Home Affaires projects, which at the same has been my biggest challenge, I felt really intimidated by the system.

Pros: Many clients to work for therefore there’s a variety of opportunities and experience
Cons: I am too far from the working offices

Good stepping stone

It waa a good company to work for but had a lot of internal politics Little sympathy with employees with serious problems Clicks get formed vir asd its n ard to be part of the team

Derailing my career goals

Work day-is a 8-5 company however flexible at time Relationship with co-workers not so much these lot of white people and most are males I havent learned as much as testing or being a test analyst concern I dont enjoy what am currently working on Is trying to incorporate what i have learned in my past career experience with what am doing currently and i cant seem to gel in well.

Pros: Great opportunity if you are a developer
Cons: Male dominated

Exellent

It has been a wonderful experience working at DHA, i have grown a lot and my ability to work in a Group and as an individual has grown, also the ability to work under pressure during releases and working with business and users of the system have been a wonderful journey. users of the system have been a wonderful journey.

Pros: The ability to see myself grow in my Career as a tester have been the greatest advantage that i have noticed during my stay with DHA
Cons: When involved in a teem it is so stressing that some people in the team don't carry their Wight and those that are moving are expected to work extra to push the job
