Excellent precision in laboratory work

I am a graduate at Durban University of Technology, ZA. I had been working in science occupational sector for 12 month. So far, I had gained managerial experience in laboratory work, at Associated Additives. I was working with concentrated chemicals including acids, furnaces with high temperatures from 490˚C to 1100˚C. I am also able to handle and deal with precious metals from ore until the final concentration of each impurity in PPM and PPB in order to purify a desired metal in to an obligatory concentration including gold, lead, and silver Instrumental technology Computer skills, Atomic Emission Spectroscopy (spark analyzer), Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (graphite furnace), Infra-red spectroscopy, Gas Chromatography, High Performance Liquid Chromatography , Thermal Analysis, Thermo hake, Color Test, pH miter, Acid Base Titration, Complexometric Titration, Redox Titration, Precipitation Titration, XRF

Good company with lots of resources to use to learn.

*Associated Additives is a great company to work for. * On a typical can what I do is testing samples to their specificatios. *Checking lab consumables, verifying the balances, check instruments calibration, do capex for instruments required by the lab, check documentation of our suppliers and contractors, oversee the safety of lab staff. *I have a good relationship from the lab in-service trainees that I'm overseeing to management of all departments , to co-workers from admin, maintainance, warehouse to production. *The recent achievement that I have learnt is doing capex from doing the quotes to buying equipment. *I enjoy achieving my targets for the day. *Challenging aspect for me is the company not doing the testing whilst product is being produced and testing the packed product.

Cons: Growth within the company is not there

Excellent learning curve

The company is not paying well.Employees are still under the apartheid regime.There is no equality in terms of race.People are opressed and not respected.White people and indians are occupying top positions without a proper qualification.There is no tranformation in uplifting black people in skills and career advancement.I have learnt a lot in terms work experience and i have managed to link together my education with the workplace skills i have obtained.

Pros: no great opportunities for promotion
Cons: long working hours

Excellent learning curve and experience gained

I currently manage the sales team (internal and external), exports, product development, technical team and warehouse. I am responsible for growing the business and providing a strategic pathway for us to do so. I have built great relationships with all of our customers. I am considered a leader to my colleagues and I always try to inspire them to do better. I have learnt a lot during my time at my current company, in that I have gathered a lot of knowledge and experience, I have learnt how to managed multi-functional teams. The most exhilarating aspects of the job are closing deals and customer satisfaction.

Pros: Exciting job and lovely customers.
Cons: Hazardous environment

HR Manager

Excellent company to work at but career growth is limited. I work in HR and every day is different, love challenges and trying to assist others. I enjoy motivating others, no matter the circumstance always make the best of it. I have a team that I manage, my management style is to be democratic, I communicate with dept employees quite freely, disagreements are resolved quite easily.

Cons: No career growth

No clear sense of future direction. Very real chance we heading for a disaster

n tI feel we do NOT have a clear growth and sustainability strategy in place. this business may go under in the next few years. I feel I have also reached the ceiling in this company. his company.

Pros: have enough time at my disposal.
