Armscor Reviews

Explosives

I have a B-Tech in Mechanical Engineering, certificate in storage of explosives, Total Quality management and experience in Research & Development (Ammunition), Automotive, FMCG and Defense. I have worked for Nissan Rosslyn, Colgate Palmolive, and CSIR and currently at Armscor (Alkantpan) as Data Manager. The four year undergraduate studies in Mechanical Engineering formed the basis of my perseverance towards achieving an in-depth knowledge in the field of Mechanical Engineering. As a part of my degree course I studied various subjects relating to diverse aspects of mechanical engineering which includes Engineering Design Projects and currently working with different kinds of explosives every day. I look forward to hearing from you. Kind Regards Tshepo Ngobeni 084 631 7388/ 079 773 7999 Enclosed: resume

Great exposure

A typical work day in my current company involves the usual IT calls ranging from outlook not sending emails to computer not switching on, with at least a call or two that will cause me to do some research on the solution. I work with a team of people willing to help, with information and physical effort where needed and working in an open office with a team of 10 makes communal involvement easy. Working with the company has exposed me to technology used in the government sector and the acquisition process as this is the core service of the company. Currently we are changing a lot of systems in the name of innovation and security, this is what I like most as I get to learn and experiment. I can safely say I am at the level where I am not that challenged by my core KPAs except for one of those rare calls. On the other side because of the changes going on in the company the most challenging and motivating aspect of my job has to be starting new systems from scratch.

Pros: Excellent learning curve
Cons: There isn't much promotions in IT

Challenging, young but worth the grooming and nurturing.

The politics within and outside the division make it difficult to operate at one's optimal, they interfere with the efficient execution of the duties. The work itself is exciting and presents different dynamics which can be explored further. I relate well with my co-workers and management. I always look to the good rather than the bad. I have learnt that it is not easy to teach an old dog new tricks. Certain things about Armscor and the division I work under need to change as in yesterday, policies are either outdated, non existing or ambiguous and open to interpretation. I do enjoy the traveling which comes with my work. Working out of town is relaxing, allows room to think differently. Also I love the flexible hours/time I have at work.

Pros: Flexible hours. Travelling
Cons: Disgruntled older employees

Excellent learning curve

It is a great place for any student to advance their career as trades men. As an electrician I was exposed to work on navy vessels as an electrical fitter and I also had experience as an electrician of yard services where I worked in the generation station and various workshops doing maintenance, commissioning, designing of circuit, fault finding and a whole lot more, I'd recommend this company to all students that want to advance their careers.

Pros: It has all trades
Cons: It is in a small town
