ANC Parliamentary Caucus Reviews

Exceptional learning experience

A typical week starts on Monday to discuss the priorities for the week, then meet again in the middle of the week to check progress, and meet once at the end of the week to discuss goal setting for the next week. I meet with colleges during the middle of the week to troubleshoot any issues. For example, during a recent mid-week meeting, I noticed one team was a few days behind on a long-term project. I met with the team and, together, we came up with a strategy for increasing efficiency among the team. Along with constant interaction with my team, I also attend a weekly board meeting where I present my department’s progress to the executive board. On Fridays, once all these tasks are completed, I make sure I have completed all necessary communication for the week via email and in person, and create a list of priorities for next week.

Pros: Opportunity for promotion
Cons: Irregular working hours

A typical work day

There is no growth, no promotion, only to be demoted without any reason brought forward. My work environment we as employees are demoralized we are not appreciated but rather are constantly forcedto do task that are not in our job discription, we are constantly supervised.

Pros: n/a
Cons: No opportunity to grow/promotion

A balanced exposure and opportunity for growth

I enjoy job evaluation and grading , sitting in recruitment interviews , working with external consiltants and writing reports. Whilst some days can be very hectic and unpredictable, I like the fact that I am able to stay behind and work on my own with no interferences. It can be challenging when people display a sense of entitlement and fail to seperate a job holder from a position. I have a good relationship with almost all co-workers.

Pros: The position exposes you to all aspects of HR thus making you a generalist.
Cons: The day can be very unpredictable. It can also take long to conclude disciplinary enquiries.

Been a learning curve for me and will always value the collective passion to the vision

I enjoyed the get up and go attitude instilled in me The challenge for me was that there is almost no chance for further growth The work ethics thtbI picked up at a private institution were almost falling away as the ANC Parliamentary Caucus is politically inclined so professionalism seemed to lack mostly

Pros: Flexible working hours
Cons: Limited career pathong
