Great working space, but not enough opportunities to grow

I was hired at Alvern cables as someone to organise filing for the sales department. I then was trained to run the switch board and still work on it on daily basis, I made great friends with customers who keep asking my boss why don't they have me in the sales team, because always manage to get them not to go anywhere else. I get along with the sales team as they know I'm always efficient and very helpful with anything they need. As a matter of fact I don't think there's anyone I've worked with who wouldn't recommend me, in all departments as work comes1st and issues comes after. I enjoy working there but I need to make a better living for me and my family, and alvern unfortunately isn't making that possible for me.

Great working space, but not enough opportunities to grow

Alvern is a great company. I learned a lot about how a business is run and I learned a lot about my ability to deliver great service to my employers and their customers. I have a great relationship with my coworkers as work comes 1st and issues after, The most challenging thing at the moment is that its the history of the company to have the same job position till you retire, I'm just over a year in that company and I know I can do more if given a chance so I'm looking for that chance.

Great working space, but not enough opportunities to grow

Alvern is a great company to be working at. I have learned a lot from working with sales team, I do filing of P.O, quotations, then I invoice the orders.I also communicate with the pickers to ensure everything is picked according to specifications on picking slip . The I go to reception, there a run the switchboard, I do that to relieve the receptionist during her tea, and lunch time. I do that daily so if anyone needs company information they come to me for reliable info because working in the areas I work at puts me in the know of company running.

Excellent learning curve

More to learn but no space for promotion.Good people and good working spirit.but superiors are more strict.No enought parking for employees you have to wait for another shift to knock off and move their car

Excellent learning curve

I started right after matric and have been learning my current field of work since then. Working 14 years with the same people, they became like family, working well together, learning a great deal. I enjoyed how everyone got on well and worked together.

Pros: Vast amount of knowledge gained from tasks
Cons: Not enough performance reviews

Great working space, but not enough opportunities to grow

I am looking for a company that will allow me to grow with it as I'm hard working and dedicated. So my current company provides security of a job but everyone holds on to their posts until retirement. I tried speaking to HR about possibility of growth, but she indicated that only if some one retires or resign the only can you get a different post.

Great working space learned alot but not enough opportunities to grow

Working at alvern is great, it has taught me to juggle many things. Between doing filing of our POD, quotations etc I invoice, do my morning reports. Then at 10am I run the switchboard then continue with other invoicing duties before I relieve at switchboard again then back to my invoice office again. There I work with different departments, like debtors, sales ,the warehouse to ensure proper stock is picked and the accountant when I take our cash payments.
