In terms of my job as a non motor claims consultant i process non motor claims from registration to finalisation. I really enjoy finding ways to reject claims, unfortunately our company does not reject a lot of claims so most of the time we spend debating our policy wording. The team that I am in is very supportive and we have all learnt from each other.

Work as much as you can to gain knowledge

When I come at work in the morning, switch on my computer and open all the systems that I will be using for that day. Look at my schedule on what I will be doing and start with my work with intervals during the day. I have a great relationship with my co-workers. They are the ones that keeps you insane and makes the day go by quickly. I have learned a lot from switchboard to how to work with clients and how to interact with different people. Learned different aspects of finance from doing credit control, dealing with big companies and dealing with consultants and banks. I mostly enjoy new challenges when you start at a new department. When not getting assistance from consultants or systems jam or are offline.

Cons: Not getting promotions and overworked

Treated unfairly

Treated unfairly, workload was a lot I was handling work for two people. Was promised a permanent position but didn’t happen. Management had no solutions nor guidance. Ideas or solutions was not recognized. When the department was retrenched we were told to pack our things and leave with immediate effect. Hence me having no benefits and left jobless.

Pros: Great reputation
Cons: Unfair work practice

Learning curve

Working at Alexander Forbes has been a learning curve indeed. I have learned that in corporate world you have to look out for yourself! my day to day activities are okay, not wow or whack, just average. the most thing I love about is my colleagues, the support they give you, the love they show, its like you get another family. they make anything easy. I enjoy assisting the branches when ever they are experiencing problems and love seeing a puzzle coming together. the most challenging thing is dealing with difficult branch consultants.

Pros: the colleagues are great
Cons: No opportunity for promotion
