Agriaid SA Reviews

Great experience

Working for AgriAid SA has been the biggest highlight of my career, when I joined in I didn't know anything but through dedication, hard word and support from my supervisors I made it. Its been one year and 10 months since I joined the organization I have acquired a lot of communication skills such among others include: writing various communication pieces ( newsletters, articles, news release, annual reports and etc.) Organising events and managing various social media platforms. It was such a wonderful learning curve, my ideas were challenged, my level of thinking changed drastically and most importantly I learned working and communicating with different people. The most challenging aspects of my job would be designs I struggled using Corel draw, but through willingness, my skilld are improving daily. In a nutshell, AgriAid SA was an eye opener for me having introduced me to the most important aspects of my career.

Pros: Learning curve
Cons: Long working hours

Work synopsis

Monitor the plans and reports and provide programme guidance and direction. I have a very good relationship with my co-workers. I was able to get along with the team fast because in an NGO, there is no time to waste, we want to see performance. I have learnt a lot with regards to the programme itself. I came here from government and the management style is different. Here we make sure that we push performance and in government is kind of slow and maybe comfortable. I enjoy seeing a lot of people( farm workers) getting our services. The challenging part is that, we work on a small budget, and this job needs more of onsite monitoring.

Pros: The opportunity to learn the NGO enviromnent
Cons: Long hours and not compensated
