As a Plant operator, on a typical day I take shift and do a walk about to check contents and levels of batch tanks. I then continue with the on going production plan through monitoring the plant. The environment has very great people and I get along with more or less everyone. The process is complex and gives very good technical experience. I have learnt various disciplines in this role alone. Those such as Quality control, Process engineering, Logistics and basic Business administration. I have also grown in managing and supervising people as I get a chance to act on my Supervisors behalf from time to time. The most challenging part of the job is working under pressure, which is something required due to demand and supply of the market. Working under pressure sometimes leads to mistakes that result in reblends and spillages. Therefore one needs to always be alert and pay attention to detail.

My tenor at AECI
During my one year tenor at AECI as a chemical operator learner (Learnership) I started labelling products being taught by an old man by the name of Hanyani we workd well together I got used to his mood swings and due to the chemical exposure the plant was all male workers I got all well with everybody. My problem was that I was also finishing up my BA Humanities qualification and it also demanded most of my time especially the second semester hence I had o leave the learnership at AECI and my production manager (Mr Ndevu) never got to understand that and it led to a dispute that got my contract terminated at AECI. I learned a lot about manufacturing, mixing chemicals according to the work instruction which we referred to as the 'formula' and packaging the finished product and labelling it. I also learned the program Syspro for printing out work instructions and ordering labels online and printing out track IDs
Pros: Good working environment, manufacturing is simplified and plant is manual and automatic as well (hybrid)
Cons: lack of growth, long hours and insuffiencient salary for the chemical exposure

On daily basis the main focus is identifying business needs; going out in the market to identify vendors; prepare RFP; negotiate the submitted tender; on quartely basis business units (15 in total) will report on their Procurement spend in order for me to analyse and report on the overall company BEE score. Excellent learning Curve
A typical day for me is very busy but always can handle it, my relationship with my co-workers is excellent and always looking forward to following day . I have learned that I will always see and experience differently characters in the work place and its up to me whether how do I choose to handle that , I always thrive to be professional and ethical at the same time. Iv enjoyed learning new things and being able to be realizable , The most challenging aspects to my job is the pressure and the handling of the different characters .

Strive with all means to learn and adapt. Property is my heart and soul
Time management of my day is always a success, keeping up with deadlines. currently working on easing processes and going paperless. The environment is important to me. I respect all my co-workers, security and other staff. I have learnt that communication is key in an environment that has so many challenges and is fast pasted. My Position is dealing with tenants one on one , negotiating lease agreements with renovations. There is no challenge at this sage. The secret to my day is positive thinking, always wanting to make not on the tenant comfortable but keeping in mind my CEO, the company and their shareholders. My major success is working CSI and ED's, creating their business from scratch and seeing them grow. Everyone deserves a change to improve their lives.
