Adcock Ingram Critical Care Reviews

Qualified Electrician Apprentice

I learned about the practical application of technical knowledge of electrical engineering. Through my on job training at Adcock Ingram Critical Care I was exposed to a wide range of designing and wiring electrical circuits, fault finding, motor starters, variable speed drives, installation work, air handing units, basic knowledge of chillers, boilers, lifting technique and safety. I enjoy projects. The first project given to me and my fellow apprentice, was to design a star/delta combined with DOL as well as safety switches included in a circuit. Star/delta can not start before DOL, the circuit will not start before closing all doors for sheeting regrinder machine. DOL is for sacking the regrinded sheeting and star/delta for grinding the sheet.

Pros: Creating interlocks to save water
Cons: Worked long hours on weekends for projects

My biggest challenge yet biggest learning is working in a unionised environment.

Overall a good company to work for but a lot of work required around culture, engagement and reward & recognition. Attrition has been high over the last few months which could be addressed by addressing the mentioned areas.

Pros: Union engagements
Cons: Lack of growth

It was a great opportunity to learn and be exposed to the world of work

I was working at Adcock Ingram critical care for a period of 6 months. I had a contract with Networx for career development, graduate recruiting company. I received a stipend of 2500 per month from Networx. I was working at Adcock as a graduate intern thus intending to gain more experience in a workplace related to my field of study. During the working period, I learned to work and cooperate with different characters and working in a team as well. My duties included: Preparing media and ensuring quality of the samples to be tested. Recording data of samples and ordered equipments. Bioburden testing and particulate matter testing

Pros: Great opportunity to learn
Cons: Less payment

Enjoy working, but very little opportunity for growth. Would love new challenges.

I enjoy my work, very hands on all the time. Must continuously be aware of what subordinates are or are not doing to accomplish a successful shift. If a opportunity awaits with room to improve income and lifestyle I do not want to miss out. Get along very well with co-workers and better with those that work hard!! Sometimes challenging to keep people focussed on the job at hand.

Pros: Secure and challenging
Cons: No room for improving oneself

Good experience and learning curve

The most challenging thing is being over looked because you’ve never worked for another company before and you’re a female. Manager prefers hiring guys over females. Exploitation of graduates . Keeping them on fixed term contracts for years then let them go and get more graduates to put them through the same thing

Pros: Great opportunity
Cons: Exploitation of graduates and fixed-term contractors
