Never stop learning

My typical workday consists of bookkeeping, drafting annual financial statements and all aspects of tax compliance for my clients. I have enjoyed learning with regards to individuals and companies income tax, I find it interesting and rewarding being challenged by new tasks and satisfying my clients' needs in this regard. The toughest part of my job is the workload. I am the only employee, with over 120 clients requiring accounting, tax, secretarial and ad-hoc consulting. I enjoy being able to meet my clients' needs, provide them with excellent results and building relationships with them.

Summary of working as Financial Accountant and Practice Manager

A typical day involves bookkeeping, drafting financial statements, preparing and submitting all types of tax returns (provisional, annual, EMP201, VAT201, Dividend Withholding tax), dealing with SARS disputes. I have learned about company and individual tax compliance, financial reporting in terms of IFRS for SME's. The most rewarding part of the job is satisfying clients' needs. The most challenging aspect is prioritising work, as all clients are important!
